The couple has been influential in creating Local Food, a regional food- and cultural society in Iceland and work energetically for the SlowFood organization.
The restaurant, previously located in Akureyri, in the northern part of Iceland, has been awarded both in Iceland and abroad and was nominated on behalf of Iceland for The Nordic
Prize.
The FRIÐRIK V cuisine emphasizes fresh Icelandic ingredients and the best seasonal products. The freshest ingredients available are the basis for the menu
which consequently varies from day to day. Guests are therefore invited to enjoy a new journey into the world of Icelandic cuisine and they can choose from three or five course surprise
menus.
FRIÐRIK V is open every day except Sundays (and Mondays in winter time). It is open for lunch on weekdays from 11.30 -13.30, serving two dishes from the menu as well as soup and bread. Dinner is from 17.30 with three and five course menus. Guests can also ask the restaurant staff to choose the wine with their courses if they wish to heighten the experience. In other words, to embark on a surprise journey of Icelandic cuisine at its best.
